What we count
Images in the HTML we fetch. Missing alt, empty alt, and present alt. Empty is correct for decorative images; missing is not.
Templates, not one-offs
If a product card has no alt, every product is broken. Change the loop in the theme, re-crawl one category page, done.
Alt is not a keyword field
Describe the picture. Stuffing “best SEO plumber London” onto a divider helps nobody. The guide has examples.
